Went to Inverness for work, had sushi for lunch and visited Holland and Barrett, went to the gym later and did my speed workout, I figured I should have been doing this about 4 weeks earlier and maybe it's too late to benefit but I'll keep at it., here it is
Bench Press 120kg x 6, drop down to floor 8 clap press ups - 3 sets
Front Press 80kg x 6, med ball throws against wall 8kg - 3 sets
Back Squats 150kg x 6, jump onto 26" block x 8 - 3 sets
Step up on 16" block with 40kg x 6 each leg, step up and spring onto same block x 6 each leg - 3 sets
It was pretty tough working the strength and then speed, muscles were pretty tired after, felt good though.
Had a BBQ for dinner.

Easy day
Had an easy day was going to the gym but ended up not going as I was too tired must have been yesterday leaving so early n stuff.
Went to Inverness for 11am Hanna was getting her hair cut at Leslie's I was sitting waiting on a chair when the stylist asked me over, I thought right away woops, she pointed out the headlice and my fears were realised, I asked where to get the 'headlice killer' we went to Boots and bought some did various shoppings, Jules went to the gym, Hanna and I played out the back first doing some jumps and finishing off with some high end hide and seek ha ha....
We went up to Matalan or Mataland as Hanna used to call it when she was younger, I got some new shorts and a summer top - ever hopeful that the Summer is actually coming..... It was sunny today but kinda cloudy too and it never really warmed up never mind, late Summer would be nicer than no Summer at all (if it comes)
We came home and had Fajitas I cooked the Fillet Steak on the BBQ and Jules was inside cooking the rest of the stuff and grating cheese, they were very nice made up from the fillet.
Going for a walk tonight may write up later...

Stopped off in Fort William at MacD's and got a chicken burger, mozzarela cheese dippers and a flake flurry :-)
Got home around 7:45pm, Jules had her hair straightened today wow it kinda changes her appearance, I thought it was someone else, it's nice though erm I think!!! They told me about there day and how much they had enjoyed it (without me :-()

56 pounds
Been watching the Disco all day on Ebay it's only reached £550 with 20 mins to go :-(
Never mind, went to Dingwall to get some meat from Jason he's off his heid but he's a good lad ha ha, on the way back we turned into Jill and co to see Fiona and the ol Jeep ran out of diesel woops Jules had to come and get us, I think she was quite pleased as she could have a look around Fiona's at the sale stuff, she is always needing sporty clothes (weird eh?)
We went home got changed and went off to the gym, Jules and Hanna did their workouts and I threw my 56lb weight for distance and then for height, throwing was going well. We had to go and get diesel tae put in ma Jeep. we went back home and I took Jules car down to make sure mine would start, it did, so I drove back and then walked down to get the Jeep and drive it back, must remember to go and get diesel in the morning ha ha
Ma Disco didn't sell it reached £595 £155 short of my reserve price bummer maybe I'll put it back on tomorrow.

Checked Ebay for my Disco and it's up to £500 I bought it for 1300 so am losing 800 so far but am hopeful that it will go up from there.
Going down to the field for fitness training now

Mini Games
I had a mini Highland Games with the kids at the Black Isle Leisure Centre today, we did shot putt, 2kg weight for distance, 2kg hammer, caber and tug of war with the younger group, tug of war was last as usual as they tend to go a bit crazy and always want to get even, ALWAYS!
The older kids were in later and we did the same events but added the 2kg med ball for height, they were some ok throwers there but must admit some of the younger kids earlier were better. Tug of war was more competitive though the kids were going crazy, I took the winning team on and they beat me ha ha, I could not beat 6 kids :-( managed to add in some 56lb weight for distance throws myself.....
We had a BBQ when we got home and then went for a walk, picked some rasps and Hanna had a play in the park.
Took the box to the gym later and did some jumps, we then went through to where the sandbags are and did some jumps onto them up to 40 inches, Jules managed it too....
We got home and I went to do some 'filling' on the discovery as it is up for sale at the mo, it has now reached £410 and big Jase said I would be lucky to get £500 still two days to go and I have a reserve on it for £750 just in case :-) keeping ma fingers and toes and legs crossed that I get rid of it...........
Having a couple of beers now and am just gonna chill

Inverness Day 2
Caithness games were cancelled so went to Inverness for day 2 Sunday....
It was overcast and pretty cool for a supposed Summer's day but at least it was not raining in fact the rain held off for most of the day but typical highland games curse weather it starts just as the Caber is about to begin making it all wet and slippery.
Started off with the heavy hammer a win for Bruce Aitken 114' 7", 2nd Larry Brock 111' 3 3/4", 3rd Gregor Edmunds 109 4 3/4", 4th Sean Betz 105' 10 1/2" and 5th Ryan Vierra 105' 6 1/2".
Next the 28lb weight for Distance, a good win for Bruce Robb with 80' 4" with Gregor and Kyrylo tying for 2nd with exactly the same distance of 80' 2 3/4" 4th was Larry Brock 80' 1 3/4" and 5th Sean Betz 78' 10 3/4"
Only 2 events to go and the points looked like this
Ryan Vierra 21
Gregor Edmunds 21 1/2
Larry Brock 26
Sean Betz 30
Bruce Robb 36
Kyrylo Chuprinin 36 1/2
Bruce Aitken 41
Scott Ryder 43
Harrison Bailey 45
David Barron 48
Greg Hadley 56
Wout Zjilstra 63
56 WOB was the next event and the height started at 13 feet, David Webster said unlucky for some but everyone cleared it. The bar went to 14 and all were clear again, some just. Rising to 15 feet would surely diminish the athletes competing in this event - Harrison B, Greg H, Scott R, Bruce A and Ryan Vierra could not reach the height.
The bar was raised to 16 feet this height lost Larry B, Sean B and Gregor E.
4 athletes had cleared 16 feet -
David Barron
Bruce Robb
Kyrylo Chuprinin
and the current world record holder in the 56 wfh Wout Zjilstra
Wout and Kyrylo asked for the height to be raised to 17 feet. Dave Barron took one attempt and retired from the event, all the others failed first attempt too, they also failed 2nd attempts at 17 feet, first up for 3rd and final attempt was Kyrylo, he could not quite get the weight over although it was close, Wout was next and snuck the weight over the bar but the weight pulled the bar so violently that is fell off, hard luck Wout, next up was Bruce Robb final attempt and final throw of the day at the 56, he thrwe it up and cleared the bar it skiffed the bar and all went silent in the crowd for a few seconds until the quivering bar steadied and stayed there, he had cleared 17 feet, what a tremendous feat :-)
The final result was
Bruce Robb 17'
Wout Zjilstra 16'
Kyrylo Chuprinin 16'
David Barron 16'
Larry Brock 15'
Sean Betz 15'
Gregor Edmunds 15'
The rest at 14'

Gregor 27 1/2
Ryan 31
Larry 32

Wout 66
One event to decide who was going to be crowned World Champion 2007 the CABER
It was a nice stick looked about 21 feet and very solid, would not like to guess the weight but it looked very heavy!!!
It had started raining which I think may have affected the result but it was raining for everyone I suppose! The order of merit for the caber went like this
Kyrylo
Gregor
Wout
Bruce R
Ryan
Scott
Larry
David
Greg
Harrison
Sean
Bruce A
Adding this to the previous totals gave this result
1st and new champion Gregor Edmunds 29 1/2
2nd Ryan Vierra 36
3rd Larry Brock 39
4th Kyrylo Chuprinin 40 1/2

Inverness Games
The games were starting at 1pm and we left the house at about quarter to 11. Everyone was there already and it was good to see everyone and meet the new folks I hadn't met before.
The world's started at 1pm I had registered for the Masters with Alistair Gunn, Mark MacDonald, Anthony Lordi and Russ Barker. Alistair also did the open so Mark and I decided he was a clever little B and joined him but we missed the shot putt. Can't remember my distances but my placings in the Masters were
42lb wfd - 3rd
42lb wfh - 2nd
16lb shot - 2nd
Hammer - 3rd
Caber - 3rd :-(
In the open events I didn't fair as well, Graeme Allan and Jason Johnston (Canada) were also in the open.
16lb shot - missed
56lb wfd - 4th
56lb wfh - 4th
Caber - 2nd
Inverness Stone - 5th
Once I get the full results I'll put em up!!!

Tough day
Well between work and getting the new computer desk in the house set up has been a tiring day, I even mopped the floor, it was in some mess behind where the old desk used to be, glad it's done though now I can chill. Also shredded 3 bags of paper this afternoon, Hanna wants to keep them for her Guinea pigs!
Took the Disco down to the field and washed it phew it was tiring work washing and rinsing and then rubbing down with a dry cloth, spose that's what car washes are for, but the Disco aint taxed and I didn't want to chance driving it too far.
Went to Inverness at night and had a meal at Jimmy Cheung's all you can eat buffet, they looked a bit worried when Jason and I walked in, we met Alan and Anne Pettigrew there, Alan is up to judge at the Inverness Highland Games tomorrow, we all had a good chat and went for a walk after, more to try and walk some food off than anything else, I must have put on about a stone in there!
Got home and finished cleaning up the computer area and set the computer up, it looks bloody good even though I say so maself :-)

World's best throwers
Went to Alness again. When we finished I went home and had some food and got changed. Ryan Vierra called and said they were ready to go to the field at Bught park for a throw, so I arranged to meet the guys there at 4pm-ish. When I arrived Larry and Sean were not happy, they had caught some flu bug from Mick Cottrell after Alva games, anyways the guys didn't throw at all they were either too ill or too tired, jet-lag. We went back to Ryan's and watched a DVD of 'the heavies' starring Hamish Davidson, Grant Anderson, Bill Anderson and Geoff Capes it was pretty cool to see these guys throwing at Tobermory and then at Crieff, Ryan has promised me a copy.
We didn't go for food everyone was too tired, I went home and cooked more food, fillet steak on the BBQ, also cooked a wee burger for Hanna, but when she arrived home and told me she was not hungry I knew I was gonna have a big DINNER!!! Jules had also brought home some pecan pie and real dairy ice-cream, geez it was really nice I wanted a whole pie and a litre of ice-cream mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Working in and out
Went to Alness Ac today to help install a new server. After work I went to Muir of Ord to try and get a new gear change knob for my car, they didn't have one but I bought a 300kg chain ha ha, gonna use it for training, dragging it for a few miles.......
Went to the gym after and did the following light workout:
Hang Snatch 50kg, 60kg, 70kg 2 x 2, 80kg 1 x 2
Power Snatch 70Kg x 5, 75kg x 4, 80kg x 2 x 2
Push Press 70kg x 7, 90kg x 5, 110kg x 3, 120kg x 2, 130kg x 2 x 2
Back Squat 90kg x 8, 110kg x 6, 130 x 5, 150 x 5 x5
Jumps 40inch block 3 x 5
Saved a baby swallow which was stuck in the gym, poor wee tiny thing, there was also a house martin trapped but it was too lively to catch.
Jules cooked some fillet steak it was great steak :-) we went to Tesco and got a wee bit shopping, Jules wanted to take her new car for a wee run, the gold golf, it is really nice. Bought some Ben and Jerrys and scoffed the lot when we got home.

A Day at work
Went to the office and did some work, home for lunch and then left for Inverness via the gym to drop Julie's Kettlebell off, she is awfy excited about her new car she is picking up tomorrow.
Went to Drummond and checked emails and filled up my calendar sent some emails got replies and replied to them etc - ya know!!! Had a chat with some of the guys and left for my physio appointment at GD down the Carse Road in Inverness. Lisa worked well on my back sticking her elbows and generally causing a barrow-load of pain in my back, pecs and shoulders. The pain takes yer breath away sometimes but it's worth it to be able to move more freely ha ha.
Off to the bank to get more cash for Jules new car tomorrow she needs £1600 as I already put down £200 and we are trading her old car in as Part exchange. Bit of a nightmare trying to find a parking space but got one, went to H&B after and picked up some protein bars, chocolate orange mmmmmmmm, haven't trained yet so I'm off now to get some running done

In the garden and stuff
We got up late and after breakfast, spraying my shed base with water protectant and mucking about went to Inverness for some garden stuff and to have a picnic at the Ness Islands, weather was hot for a change, went in a row boat, Hanna learned quick and after going round in circles for a while she steared us back to get the boat back in time.
Came home and planted the garden stuff, ran out of stone chips and compost so more shopping next week.
Gonna get the Discovery washed and pictures taken so I can put it on Ebay tomorrow must get rid of it as there are only 6 weeks left of the MOT.

Saturday Morvern Games
We got up and had a superb cooked breakfast, Hanna had smaller portions and ate it all up :-) we left for some shopping (again) in Morrisons tae stock up on food, snacks etc Then into Ellis Brigham for some Skin so Soft Midge repellant only thing that works against these resilient beasties.
We then went to get the Corran Ferry to Ardgour to drive down to the Morvern Games held in Lochaline, lovely wee ferry run, nice drive and beautiful scenery.
Arrived in Lochaline, which is where the Notherners get the ferry to Mull, if I wasn't following Davie Hart I would most certainly have driven straight passed it, a quaint wee games in a wee field. It was a great day, Jules took part in the Ladies races looking none the worse for completing her gruelling mountain race the night before, coming in 2nd Vet too. The locals seemed to beat her even though she crossed the line first, well that's local rules for ya!
My results were
1st Shot putt 40' 7"
1st 28lb weight for dist 69' 5"
2nd Hammer 105' 7"
1st= 42lb weght for height 16' 0"
1st Caber 12 o'clock
Overall 1st
Stayed around and chatted for a while with folk and left to catch the ferry back, Jason called and told me that Glenarm in Ireland had been cancelled and that he was 2nd at Alva competing against 3 guys invited to the World's, wow he beat two of them!!!
We drove to Kingussie and had a meal in the Fiordland Hotel, great meal, Hanna was feeling sick, possibly from the drive which was a bit windey twistey and didn't want to eat anything poor wee sausage! We were gonna camp out but decided it was too late to set the tent up and with Hanna not well we just drove home,
That's all for now folks ha ha.

Friday
Left on Friday afternoon as Julie had a Mountain race up Aonach Mor near Fort William, we spent most of the day in Inverness getting stuff shopping etc.....
After we went looking for a BnB in typical Cleghorn Lampoonery style having not booked and findgin everywhere booked up as usual, we should know better, but we kept phoning and calling into BnB's, Guest Houses and Hotels. We took turn about and every now and then Jules call some from the Touristy brochure we had. We went in to some really sneaky places having banners up at the bottom of their drives claiming to have rooms for 22.50 or 27.50 only to be told when going into these places that those rooms had all gone and they only had some really expensive ones left, ha ha typical Scotland eh, a place you have to pay to have a shite! Some of these quotes made me laugh out loud, £120 for the room, someone said £85 when Jules scoffed they said "well you wont get anything any cheaper" I would rather have drove home than give in to these lying bar stewards!!!
Jules on the phone managed to find a room for the 3 of us with cooked Brekkie for £55, fine we booked it went to MacD's for some chicken and went up for the night, Aonoch Mor View BnB, it was very nice and sooooooo quiet, perfect.

Cleaning
Just washed the kitchen wall above the cooker, couple o' years worth of grease from the cooker. Then went out and locked up Julie's car she couldn't be bothered coz she is up at 5:30am tomorrow, that's the middle of the night as far as I am concerned!
Driving Miss Julie
Took Jules into work so I could use her car, my new one is not ready yet sigh! Still better to get it all sorted out first I suppose. Went to Inverness and to the bank for cash, pain in the butt having to go to Inverness, it's my nearest Alliance and Leicester branch. I'm in the middle of changing banks at the mo, to the Halifax/BOS they pay out £100 to every new customer WOW just for opening an account. Popped into Holland and Barrett to get some protein bars.

Cruising
Got up this morning to a very very sore neck, yeh a pain in the neck. Asked Jules to get me an appointment with Lisa for some remedial massage, she said I could get an appointment at 6:20pm
Went to Fortrose today to Julie's work, Hanna and Grace joined the archery class and I took Niamh to the shop. The sun was oot today and was pretty hot, possibly best day of the year so far! Let's hope there is more like it.
Had a BBQ for lunch and made Alan the Painters lunch too, it's great to have the barbie on, we use it most days whether it is rain sleet snow or sun, we only sit outside to eat if it's sunny though :-)
Jules picked us up after her work and I went to see Lisa she worked an ma neck and left trapezius and lat, she did a good job coz within 30 minutes I could move my neck without pain yippeeeee, I was supposed to throw today but couldn't because of the pain in the neck, she said I should not do anything using these muscles for 48 hours so no throwing tomorrow either sob sob, best weather of the year and I can't throw or lift :-(
Jules did a wee workout and then we all went to Jimmy Cheung's Buffet, I ate far too much but the food is superb so couldn't stop myself, I probably ate about 6kg of food, so will weigh me in the morning and see what I am, I will report on HERE!!!
